FIDLER: Earl Samuel passed away peacefully on September 18, 2006 surrounded by his family. Earl was born on February 18, 1929 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, the youngest of twelve children born to Alexander and Flora Fidler. At the age of 10, Dad also lost his Mother to Cancer. The family moved to Flin Flon a few years later where he would work for the Hudson Bay Mining Company. Dad joined the army, the 2PPCLI in Winnipeg and would later fight in the Korean War. Soon after returning from Korea, he met Joyce Scott of McCreary and they were married December 13,1954. Earl would again work at the mining company before moving the family to McCreary and later to Ochre River where he became an elevator manager. In 1975, the family moved to Brandon after Cargill Grain bought out National Grain. He worked for Cargill until retiring in his sixties. Dad enjoyed many hobbies such as playing baseball with his boys, gardening, woodworking, garage sales and playing cards with Mom. Dad's greatest joy was his grandchildren and later his great grandchildren. He enjoyed long walks with them and took great pride in their accomplishments. He could often be found cheering at their sporting events, concerts and watching them get married and start their own families. Dad was also a wonderful father and was always there to help when needed. He enjoyed making others laugh whether it was telling a joke, a story, making a funny face or doing a jig on the front steps. Even throughout his illness he continued to share his sense of humor and make others laugh. He leaves to mourn his wife Joyce; his children: Debra (Dennis) Black of Oak Lake, Fred (Denise) Fidler of Brandon, Dalton (Irene) Fidler of Forrest and Gail of Brandon; grandchildren: Candace (Sean) Tolton of Kenton, Shane (Allana) Black of Brandon, Kayla (Kevin) of Brandon, Sarah, Michelle and Ashley Fidler of Brandon; great grandchildren: Brooke, Hanna and Foster Tolton of Kenton and Dayton, Kyra and Danica Black of Brandon. He is also survived by sisters Gladys (Alec) McNeely of Elton and Pearl Fieber of Kelowna, British Columbia; sister-in-law Elenor (Jack) Klapp of McCreary, Fred Scott of McCreary and Elmer (Stella) Scott of McCreary. The Ceremony to Celebrate Earl's Life was held on Saturday September 23, 2006 at Memories Chapel with Rev. Orton Anderson officiating.
