MURRAY: Douglas McIntosh "Doug" Murray of Dinsdale Personal Care Home passed away at his residence, on Sunday, March 2, 2003. Doug was born January 3, 1920 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. At the age of 5 months he went to live with his adoptive parents, George and Marion Murray in Fairlight, Saskatchewan. He received his education at Fairlight. Following his schooling, Doug drove the children to school with a horse drawn van. He would also meet the train, load the supplies on to the dray, and deliver them to the stores. Doug started working for the CP Railway in the early 1950's. After 5 years, he left the CPR to work for Hugh Gibson at MacAuley, Manitoba. From there Doug went to work for the Armed Forces at CFB Shilo. Doug started in the clothing store and from there went to the Ammunition Depot. He was with the Armed Forces at Shilo for 18 years. Doug served in World War II, going overseas to England and France. He was very proud to be a part of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 54 years. Doug was an active member in meetings and special services for many years. He was also a member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans of Canada Unit #10. Doug was interested in hockey, baseball and curling and could often be found at the rink, ball diamond or watching them on television. Doug also enjoyed watching the Grey Owls and the Brandon Wheat Kings. He looked forward to his morning coffee at the Gallery, and liked to listen to Old Time Fiddling and looked forward to the Fiddling Contest in Miami, Manitoba. Doug is survived by: his special friends, Barry Waite, and Sandra and Barry Chambers. The funeral service will be held at Dinsdale Personal Care Home, 510-6th Street, on Friday, March 7, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. Captain Wayne Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in the Veterans Section of the Brandon Cemetery.
