Dorothy Weston (Robb)

Dorothy was born in Cypress River, Manitoba, one of seven sisters and one brother. She was the daughter of Sara and Ed. As a young woman she lived in several Manitoba communities, including Winnipeg, but when she settled in Brandon it became home for her.

Dorothy and her sister, Ethel, joined the military, an achievement she shared with many others of her generation. Later, she was active in the Canadian Legion. She wore her medals and beret with justifiable pride.

She had operated a hair salon for many years, and she later worked at Brandon Mental Health Centre, cutting and styling hair for the residents there.

Dorothy was known for her love of travel. She began her adventures throughout Europe, followed by Japan, China, Tibet, Egypt and Israel. She joined St John Ambulance in 1974 where she volunteered more than 6,500 hours, travelling to many events around Brandon and southern Manitoba providing first aid and emergency medical support. She was awarded a Serving Sister medal by Gov. General Edward Schreyer for her many years of dedicated service to that organization.

Dot enjoyed numerous philanthropic endeavours. She connected with the Marquis Project and visited Africa and Cuba, offering material aid to people in need. Another favourite activity was volunteering for Seniors for Seniors.

Dorothy is survived by nieces, nephews and their families, her daughter Gale, grandchildren Tracy, Daniel, Michelle, Robin, Jackie and Vincent, great-grandchildren Olivia, Josh, Bradley, Ashley, Noah and Liam, great-great-grandchildren Linkoln, Mackinley, June and River. She is predeceased by husband Arthur, grandson Chris, and great-grandson Enrique.

Dorothy will be interred at Brookside alongside husband Arthur as she instructed. Interment will be held on September 19, 2026, at 1:00pm.
