The death of Dorothy Gertrude Lawrence occurred at her residence, Fairview Home, in Brandon on Manday, January 14, 2002. Dorothy was born on August 7, 1923 in Brandon, daughter of Frederick and Maggie Weare. She was raised in Brandon and received her education at King George and Earl Haig Schools. Dorothy looked after her mother, father and uncle until the time of their passing. She worked at the Brandon General Hospital. Dorothy married John Lawrence in 1963 and they farmed in the Grandview area unitl they retired in 1980 and then moved to Brandon. She always enjoyed being a homemaker. Dorothy is survived by her husband, John, son Howard, daughter-in-law, Sharon and grandchildren, Jessica and Christopher of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Leslie (nee Weare); Kathleen Pearce (Nee Weare) and brothers; Reginald, Fred and Harry Weare. The graveside funeral service was held at the Brandon Cemetery, Friday, January 18, 2002 at 2:00 pm. with Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood of Central United Church officiating.
