Obituary

Mrs. Dorothy Frances Hunter (nee Davidson) passed away at Fairview Nursing Home, on Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at the age of 94 years. Dorothy was born in Kenton, Manitoba to Alexander and Agnes Davidson, she was the eldest of six children. Dorothy graduated from Brandon Normal School and began teaching in 1924 in the districts of Maine, Rivers and Lothiar. It was during this time that she met Dave Hunter, and they later married in 1931. They farmed in the Hunter District, near Kirkham's Bridge, and eventually moved to the Valley Road. Dorothy took great pride in her family and home. She enjoyed cooking and baking for them. Dorothy loved gardening, knitting, needlepoint and travelling. Church was an important part of her life where she was a member of the Central United Church Women's Group. After Dave's death in 1969, Dorothy remained at the farm for a number of years before moving to Brandon. She moved to Fairview Nursing Home in 1990, where she spent the remainder of her life enjoying many activities while there. Dorothy is survived by her five children: Keith (Dorothy) of Virden; Don (Jean) of Souris; Lorne (Louise) of Brandon; Shirley (Al) MacLeod of Mississauga, Ontario; and Glen (Mimi) of Brandon; her grandchildren: Mark (Suzette); Jodee (Chris) Webster; Brent (Michelle); Dean (Pat); Dan; David (Sue); Shawna (Sean) Brown; Scott (Sheila) MacLeod; Doug; Kelly (Jennifer) MacLeod; Grant; Jeff (Dena); and Kristi Ann as well as 12 great grandchildren; sisters: Edrie Smith and Iva Aitchison of Brandon. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, David in 1969, her sisters, Irene and Muriel and her brother, Douglas. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, on Friday, September 21, 2001 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, September 22, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Dorothy to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 437 - 9th Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 4A9 or to a charity of one's choice.
