Obituary

The death of Dorothy Evelyn Foster, widow of Albert Sidney Foster and dear mother of Eileen, Connie, Des, Betty and Ron, occurred at her residence, Fairview Home, Brandon on Saturday, August 4, 2001. Dorothy was born December 13, 1906 in Cirencester, England to Ellen and John Adams. She came to Canada with her parents and brother in 1913 and settled in Herschel, Saskatchewan. Several years later the family moved to Carberry, Manitoba. Dorothy married Albert Sydney Foster in 1923. She followed her husband throughout the CNR section system to various towns in Manitoba. In 1963 they settled in Brandon where they purchased their first home. Dorothy and Albert celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1973. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage until Albert's death in February in 1979. Dorothy enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening, cooking and baking, knitting, crocheting and needlepoint. Dorothy is survived by her children, Eileen (Ron) Schott of Kenora, Ontario; Connie Oakes of Vancouver, British Columbia; Des (Isobel) Foster of Coquitlam, British Columbia; Betty (Frank) Southern of Penticton, British Columbia; Ron (Penny) Foster of Brandon, Manitoba. There are 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Albert; her son, Allan; and two brothers, Bill and Harry Adams. The Ceremony to Celebrate Dorothy's Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Saturday, August 11, 2001 at 11:00 am. Mona Franklin will officiate. Interment will follow in the family plot in the Carberry Plains Cemetery, Carberry, Manitoba. Flowers are gratefully declined. Friends may make a donation in memory of Dorothy to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 203 - 42 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, R7A 2B2 or to a charity of choice.
