DAVIS: Dorothy Jean Davis (nee Snider) passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Tuesday October 25, 2005. Dorothy was born to Mathilda and Wallace Snider, into a family of five girls and three boys. She grew up on the family farm near Sperling, Manitoba where she attended her early years of school. The family moved to Brandon in her teenage years. Dorothy held many jobs in her life; Law Office, Keystone Centre; but worked for 20 years for Irene Hill/Cleo's. She especially enjoyed working for Cleo, which was the highlight of her working career. Dorothy met many wonderful people and created numerous friendships. She was an excellent and caring sales associate, often winning top awards for her sales. Dorothy loved to plan and participate in fashion shows, even during her retirement she organized and did modeling for ladies teas and charitable events. Dorothy met Bill through a common workplace and they married in 1970. They enjoyed 35 years of marital bliss raising their family and spending time together. In the early days, the family enjoyed numerous camping trips to Sportsman Park and various other campgrounds. Dorothy enjoyed spending quality time with the extended family as well, often taking trips to visit her sisters and brothers at their homes. She would often spend hours at the hockey rink; watching Bill play hockey, where she enjoyed the friendships with the other wives and the socializing that often took place after the game. Dorothy enjoyed knitting and sewing with a passion. She was always busy at one project or another and often times she would complete projects for friends, as well. She took tremendous pride in her projects and always would strive to do a job well. She had a strong desire for things to be perfect and would spend hours redoing something if it wasn't just so. She taught these skills to her girls as well, so they could carry on this craft. Dorothy had an immense appreciation for the outdoors; flowers and birds gave her much enjoyment. She would spend hours watching her birds peck at their feeders in her yard. Each spring a new birdhouse would go up and new birds would take residence in the yard. She enjoyed being involved in the ladies clogging group and would often arrange dance lessons in her basement, which consisted of a constructed plywood dance floor. Dorothy took up golfing just prior to her retirement and would often be up at the crack of dawn to get in a round. She belonged to a ladies golf league and looked forward to this time tremendously with her numerous friends. Dorothy had a strong desire and passion to be involved in her children's lives and the lives of her grandchildren. The love and devotion she bestowed upon them will live on forever and be cherished for a lifetime. Dorothy will be forever remembered by her loving husband, Bill Davis; sons, Daniel Kucharyszyn and Doug (Pam) Davis; daughters, Shelly McCartney (Audey) and Sherice (Duane) Claridge; grandchildren, Gory, Catherine, Stacey, Erin, and Ashley; great grandchildren, Sierra, Kailem, Morgan, Keegan, and Kian. She will also be greatly missed by her siblings; Cliff (Zennia), Ernie (Anna), Irene (Orville), Myrtle (Stan), and June (Ralph). No one will miss her more than her beloved friend, Nika, her true companion. Nika was never far from Dorothy's side, a constant friend during her long illness and the battles she fought everyday. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; Mathilda and Wallace Snider; siblings, Donald and Hilda Snider; and great granddaughter, Faith. The Ceremony to Celebrate Dorothy's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Friday, October 28, 2005. The Rev. John Nesbitt of Trinity United Church officiated. Interment was held in the Brandon Cemetery. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Dorothy to the Manitoba Lung Association, 8-940 Princess Avenue, Brandon, MB R7A 0P6. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to memorieschapel@mts.net. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.

God's Flower Garden

God saw you getting tired
When a cure was not to be,
So He closed His arms
Around you and whispered
"Come with Me."

Your smile is gone forever,
Your hands we cannot touch
All we have are memories,
Of one we loved so much.

He took you to His garden,
And laid you there to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful
He only takes the best.

And when we saw you sleeping
So peaceful and free from pain,
We would not want you,
To suffer that again.Memorials
