Obituary

CROOME: The death of Bernice Croome, beloved mother of Marilyn Edwards and Faye Beaule, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, July 16, 2006. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Monday, July 24, 2006 from 11:00 am. - 12:00 noon. The Funeral Ceremony will follow at the Chapel at 1:30 pm. Arlene Robertson of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Bernice may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Complete obituary information will follow. CROOME: Dorothy "Bernice" Croome, age 82 passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2006 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Bernice was born on November 22, 1923 in Carievale, Saskatchewan, where the family resided until she was nine. At that time, her parents moved Bernice, her brothers Orville, Maurice and sister Muriel to a farm outside Virden, Manitoba. Bernice attended Elmore School in Saskatchewan and Victor High School in Manitoba. She then worked at Fowler's Store in Hargrave. She met and later married Jerry Croome in 1944 while he was still in the Airforce. They resided in Brandon where they had two daughters Marilyn and Faye. Bernice was employed at Woolworths for 21 years until she retired in 1978. She and Jerry had a place at Pelican Lake where they enjoyed the campfires, pontoon boating and fishing. Bernice also enjoyed making crafts, cooking and baking, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. They liked to go to dances at the Royal Canadian Legion where they were both members. In her later years she devoted her life to her family and friends. She will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, courage, sense of humour, fairness and her smile. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Marilyn (Rick) Edwards, Faye (Rick) Beaule; grandsons Chris (Teresa) Edwards and Mike Beaule; great granddaughter Jessica Edwards; brother Maurice (Ardith) Duffield. Bernice was predeceased by her husband Jerry Croome, brother Orville Duffield and sister Muriel Carter. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Monday, July 24, 2006 at 1:30 pm and was officiated by Arlene Robertson of First Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers were: Chris Edwards, Mike Beaule, Deland Duffield, Louis St. Pierre, Tim Bootsman, and Hal Somerville. Interment followed at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
