BLAIR: It is with deep sadness that the family of Dorothy Beatrice Blair announce her passing at her residence at Rideau Personal Care Home on Friday, November 10, 2006. Dorothy was born in Miami, MB on May 28, 1917, the oldest of seven children of Jim and Bessie Millar. She received her schooling at Lloyd George School and had many happy childhood memories of life on the farm and the fun she and her brothers and sisters had with many favorite aunts, uncles and cousins. She married Gordon Blair of Miami and moved to Arizona, MB then to Pleasant Point where they farmed until 1952 when they purchased the General Store and Post Office at Justice, MB. She made many new and lasting friendships at Justice and had many laughs with the "Hot Stove League" who gathered every morning at the store to solve not only community problems but world wide ones as well! She belonged to the Justice UCW and the Justice Legion and was involved with the curling rink and all community events as people are in small towns and villages. Most people in the Justice area were familiar with Dot's smiling face when she opened the store on Sundays and after hours when somebody needed "that one little item that they just had to have." Dot was a gentle person who always saw the good in people and was willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. She and Gordon sold the store in 1976 and retired to Brandon where they lived with their son Ken and wife Peg. She continued to live with Ken and Peg after Gordon passed away until ill health dictated that she needed extended care and she moved to Rideau Park in March of 2004. She will be lovingly remembered by: her sons, Bud (June), Ken (Peg) and Don (Valerie) and by one daughter, Thelma (Doug) Chudley. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Brenda (Todd) Edwards, Dayna (Ray) Jonasson, Laurie (Norman) Collier, Tracie Blair, Melanie Blair, Pernell Blair, Debbie Poole and Steven Chudley. She is survived by ten great grandchildren, her pride and joy; sister, Jean Spencer of Miami, brother Earl (Joyce) Millar of Hamilton, ON; sisters-in-law, Jean (Don) Prior and Thelma Millar of Miami, Marion Fidler of Winnipeg and brother-in-law, Gerald (Edie) Blair of Sidney, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dot was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1991; sisters, Alma Knight and Verna Roberts; brothers, Jim and Donnie Millar; brothers-in-law, Bill Knight, Pete Roberts, Mervin Spencer, Bert Blair, Ronald Ludd and sisters-in-law, Jessie Ludd and Pearl Blair. Visitation will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The Ceremony to Celebrate Dorothy's Life will be held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 2:00 pm.
