Obituary

BEEVER: Dorothy May Beever of Rivers passed away at Rivers Personal Care Home, May 23, 2009. Dorothy was born in Wheatland, MB, June 20, 1918, daughter of George and Florence Perrett. She completed school in Wheatland. In 1940 she married John Beever and they began farming south of Rivers. She was active on the farm until 1984 when she moved into Rivers. Dorothy was known for her cooking and baking and large well-kept garden. Friends and family were welcomed into her home, often a gathering place for Sunday visiting and supper. She took pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to attend their activities whether it was baseball, soccer, dance, singing, concerts, graduations or weddings. Spending time with family was her greatest joy. Dorothy was a long time director of the Rivers Ag Society also serving as Secretary for many years. She participated in the Rivers Hospital Auxiliary beginning with the Pendennis Guild during its origins. She also served as a 4-H leader. She curled for many years and participated in lawn bowling and other activities of the Rivers Senior's organization. Left to mourn are sons Owen (Pat), Marlin (Eleanor) and Dale (Jocelyn); grandchildren Jenell (Andrew), John (Karen), Rhian, Thomas, Scott and Jillian; great grandchildren Jack, Jaime and Owen and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are sisters Hilda Beever, Evelyn Beever, Margaret Beever, brother Jack Perrett (Marj) and sister-in-law Margaret Woods (Tom). She was predeceased by her husband John Beever, brothers Eric Perrett and Charlie Perrett, sister Vera Murray and brothers-in-law Sam Beever, Fred Beever, Hank Beever, Roland Beever and French Beever. Funeral service was held at Rivers United Church on May 27, 2009 with interment at Rivers Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Beever, Rhian Beever, Scott Beever, Thomas Beever, Jillian Beever and Maidyl Abello. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 3-824-18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7 or to a charity of choice.
