Obituary

Elaine Doris Albert passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, Wednesday, October 9, 2002. Elaine faced her illness with courage and perseverance. She was born in Baring, Saskatchewan on April 2, 1935 to Martin and Thelma Nicholl. She attended school at Viewland, completing high school at Grenfell. Her first job was a telephone operator in Regina before moving to Kamloops, BC for a couple of years. Elaine returned to Regina and worked there until her marriage to John Albert in 1956. They lived in Souris, MB for two years before moving to Brandon in 1958. Elaine worked at the Brandon General Hospital until 1963. She was active in the community at Sunday school and at the school library, while her children attended. Elaine spent many years with Girl Guides, Christmas Cheer, and enjoyed selling Avon and visiting her friends in the neighborhood. She enjoyed camping, traveling and being with her family. Elaine is survived by her husband of 46 years, John; daughter, Marlyss (Mike) Vandermeulen of Forrest; son, Jeff (Sherry) Albert of Brandon; grandchildren, Riley and Tia Vandermeulen; brothers, Len(Josie) Nicholl of Vancouver, BC, Barry (Alley) Nicholl of Calgary, AB; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Thelma and Martin Nicholl, and a brother, Roy Nicholl. The Funeral Service was held at Memories Chapel, on Saturday, October 12, 2002. All those who were present were considered Honorary Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery Columbarium. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Elaine to a charity of their choice. Special thanks to Mona Franklin who officiated and organist, Donna Cooper. Sincere thanks to the Doctors, nurses and staff at the Brandon Regional Health Centre and the Winnipeg Health Science Centre for the care and comfort given to Elaine. We wish to express our appreciation to all those who have sent food, flowers, cards, phone calls and visits. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
