Dora Georgina Craig
September 10, 1933 – August 2, 2025
Dora Georgina Craig of Brandon, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Fairview Personal Care Home. She was surrounded by the love of her family, with music softly playing; a fitting farewell for someone who cherished both so deeply.
Dora was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba on September 10, 1933, to George and Irene Gauthier. She began her working life in the office at the Flin Flon Airport, later moving to Brandon where she held positions with Co-Op Insurance and then Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI), where she worked until her retirement at the age of 60.
A woman of quiet faith and strong spirit, Dora was a devoted member of St. Augustine's Church. She found comfort and companionship in her prayer group and cherished the friendships she built within her church community.
Dora lived life with joy and grace. She loved music and dancing, and could often be found tending to her gardens, both floral and vegetable, with care and pride. Bowling was another pastime she enjoyed, but above all, her greatest joy and accomplishment was her family.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Joann (Kerry) Moorehead and Susan (Jim) Andrey; her grandchildren Tyler (Devon) Downey, Joel Downey (Rylee Woods), Katelyn (Scott) Young, Angela (Ray) Burgess, and Aubrey (Nico) Arellano; and her great-grandchildren Harley Downey, Beau and Zoey Young. Dora is also survived by her sister Bea Corner, her brother Art Gauthier, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Fred Craig; her parents George and Irene Gauthier; and siblings Aimie Gauthier, Maurice Gauthier, and Bernice Hanson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 327 – 4th Street, Brandon, MB on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. John Okosun as Celebrant.
Urn Bearers will be her granddaughters Angela Burgess and Aubrey Arellano, with her remaining grandchildren serving as Honourary Urn Bearers. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Dora, may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Suite 300-55 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto, ON, M4V 2Y7 or the Alzheimer's Society, Unit 4B – 457 9th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 1K2.
Dora's family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Fairview Personal Care Home for the compassion and care they showed in her final days.
She will be remembered always for her warm heart, gentle strength, and the love she gave so freely.
