Donna Gail "Gayle" Sherred passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and cherished memories. Gayle was born on February 1, 1948, and was adopted at birth by her loving parents, Lillian and Douglas Sherred. She was raised in the small community of Wawanesa, Manitoba, where her journey of life began.
In 1965, Gayle exchanged vows with Terry Everard, and their union was blessed with the birth of their beloved daughter, Jeannie, later that same year. As life unfolded, Gayle's journey led her to Calgary, Alberta, where she embraced various career paths before discovering her true calling in the field of healthcare. Her compassion and dedication were evident to all who encountered her, and she found solace in caring for others.
Eventually, life's path led Gayle back to Brandon, Manitoba, where she stepped into the role of caring for her mother, Lillian, while simultaneously dedicating herself to her work as a healthcare aide at Fairview Home. Her commitment to her profession was unwavering, and she retired from Fairview in 2013 after years of heartfelt service. Following her mother's passing, Gayle returned to Calgary and continued to make a difference through her work in homecare.
In 2015, Gayle's heart grew even fuller with the arrival of her first great granddaughter. This momentous occasion drew her back to Brandon, where she could be close to her growing family.
Gayle's nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life; she was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her warmth and kindness fostered deep connections with her family, friends, and beloved furbabies. Gayle's fondness for lively conversation, shared laughter, and moments of togetherness were truly remarkable. Whether sipping coffee, enjoying wine, or simply spending quality time, she made every occasion memorable. Her friendly and outgoing nature was evident to all who knew her, and her smile lit up the lives of those around her.
In addition to her familial joys, Gayle held a light-hearted "obsession" with Kinsmen Bingo—a pursuit of luck that often saw her hoping for a win, even if it often resulted in light-hearted "donations."
Gayle is survived by her loving daughter Jeannie Robertson and son-in-law Terry, granddaughters Bre-Ann Robertson (Tyrone), Brittney Hellyer (Scott) and Brooke Robertson, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren Adalyn and Mack Hellyer. She also leaves behind extended family members, friends, and loved ones who were touched by her kindness and grace. Gayle was predeceased by her parents, Lillian and Douglas Sherred.
A special thanks to Aunt Dianne and Uncle Gary for all they did for Grams.
The family will cherish Gayle's memory privately at a graveside ceremony at a later date.
Donations in memory of Gayle may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 – 17th Street East, Brandon, MB R7B 7M6.
"Grams" Forever in our hearts.
