Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our sweet and loving mother, Donna Margaret Hedley, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, with her family by her side.

Mom was born to Charles & Doris Little in Belmont, MB on September 26, 1932. She had fond memories of a loving mother and father and loved being a part of a close-knit family, growing up with many brothers & sisters in Hilton, MB.

Mom met our wonderful Dad Hal when they were both very young and they just knew that they belonged together. They were married in 1951 and went on to have 5 children over the next 9 years.

They started out with little, but the life they made together over the years was intertwined with so much love and happy memories for us, we thought it was the richest. After moving to different little towns including Dunrea, MB and Sandy Lake, MB with Dad's job with CNR, they settled at 'the farm' outside of Rossburn, MB for many years. The farm was a cherished place where we kids, along with all of our kids and grandkids, spent so many wonderful times together. Complete with the most delicious food made with a mother's love. Mom's homemade bread and butter tarts will never be forgotten. We couldn't have felt more loved. But it was Mom & Dad that were the most precious treasures that the farm held. We feel it more and more as the years go by.

Mom's family was her life, and we all felt her love through every season of our lives. She supported and worked tirelessly alongside Dad in the family auction service and ran the Sears outlet in Rossburn MB. Every one of their kids and grandkids happily worked alongside them at auctions and were treated with the same love and generosity always shown to them in every part of their lives. Those were Mom's happiest days.

After our Dad passed away, Mom lived as courageously and as long as she could on her own at the farm. She had many great friends and neighbours in Rossburn MB. who supported her in every way, but it became too much for her. Mom lived in Minnedosa Mb and then on to Brandon MB. where many good friendships were made and family visits became more precious.

Donna finally settled in Neepawa, MB when family moved there. She resided at Country Meadows Care Home and did her best to make a life there with new friends and many activities to fill her days.

Mom was predeceased by our beloved Dad Hal in 2008; and her cherished grandson Derek James Hedley in 2021. Derek always made himself available to Grandma Donna, making it a priority to make her life the best it could be, even taking her on a trip to Cuba for her granddaughter Chantel's wedding. Mom was also predeceased by her parents and many siblings over the years. Mom went to heaven on her sister Lois' birthday. Lois died at 22 years of age.
We can only imagine the celebrations!

Left to cherish her memory and carry on the legacy of faith in God, and love of family are her 5 children and many grandchildren. Son Dennis (Audrey) and granddaughters Amanda (Ryan) and great granddaughter Jade and Chantel (Mitch); daughter Dianna (Garry) and grandson Troy (Tracy) and great grandsons Levi (Isa) and Seth, granddaughter Trista (Rod) and great grandson Christian, grandson Travis; son Doug, granddaughters Tessa (Zach) and great grandsons Rex & Rocky, Brittni (Justin) and their Mother Tracy; son Ron (Rhonda) and grandsons Joran (Bridget) and Regan (Easton); son Kevin (Sherry) and granddaughters Cesha (Mike) and great grandson Kru, and Shae (Tanner). Also surviving Mom are her loving sisters Erma Palik and Elva Shaw; brother Ron Little (Deanne) and all of their families; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mom sang 'Yes Jesus Loves Me' to us when we were little kids, we all know that now. Thank you, Mom, for that gift. We'll hold you in our hearts until we can feel your arms around us in heaven.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life".
