Obituary

MUMFORD: The death of Donald Paul Mumford of 29 Charles Avenue, Sprucewoods occurred suddenly in Brandon on Wednesday, November 12, 2003. Don was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on January 19, 1948. Don attended St. Andrews School until he reached the age of fifteen years. He lost his father at age eleven and became the man of the house until joining the Royal Canadian Navy in 1965. Don took numerous cooking courses with the military. He was a cook with the Canadian Armed Forces form 1965 until 1992. He was then employed with Nestle- Midwest Foods from 1996 until 1999. Don volunteered at Fairview Home, preparing pancake breakfasts, dinners and barbeques. His interests included, cooking, fishing, woodworking, enjoying Wheat King Hockey and was also a movie buff. He received a coaching certificate for hockey. Don is survived by, his son, Don (Jodi-Lynn) Mumford and his partner Jennifer Fiumara. He also leaves sisters, Sheila (Bobby) McLeod, Jean Payne and Valerie Mumford (Terry). Nieces and nephews; Bobby, Kelly, Tracy, Jodi, Mandy, Tony, Neil and their children. Don was predeceased by his mother, Eileen Collings (nee Samuels), father Ernest Mumford and his wife Mary Therese Mumford (nee Dobbin). A time of visitation for friends will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th St. N., on Monday, November 17, 2003 from 7:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Barbara Jardine will officiate. Pallbearers will be: Kevin Power, Mike Cranford, Dan McKinnon, Elmer Kurtz, Jerry Sayer and Floyd Weatherbie.
