JACOBSON: It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Dennis on December 21, 1998 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dennis leaves his loving wife of 27 years, Bev; his daughter, Christine Jacobson of Edmonton, AB and son, Constable Jeff Jacobson (fiance' Jami Gillander) of Slave Lake, AB. He is also survived by his sister, Joan (Jim) Robinson of Headingly, twin brothers, Ray (Phyllis) and Terry (Jane) of Winnipeg, his mother Olive of Winnipeg, father-in-law Alex Smith of Brandon; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Cliff) McGhie of Winnipeg, Winnie (Neal) Brennan of Ontario and brothers-in-law, Gordon (Marg) Smith, Graham (Irene) Smith and Norman (Joan) Smith, all of Alberta. There are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Dennis was predeceased by his father Henry and mother-in-law Helen Smith. Dennis was born in Winnipeg on April 10, 1946, at the old Grace Hospital to Olive and Henry Jacobson. On February 1, 1965, Dennis joined MTS and was sent to Brandon, where he worked for 33 years. He was also a member of the IBEW. He enjoyed all his co-workers, including his partners Dan Sinclair, Wayne Galloway and Ken Haugen. They touched his life each day and shared many memories together. Dennis married Bev Smith on July 10, 1971, at Central United Church in Brandon. Dennis loved Bev dearly. She returned his love a million times over. She was his best friend; together they raised daughter Christine (born 1973) and son Jeffrey (born 1975). Dennis's pride and joy were his family. He was proud of both his children for their success, love and independence. Dennis spent a lot of time traveling with his family and participating in activities such as hiking, cross-country skiing, biking, badminton and long walks. Cremation has taken place. A service in remembrance of Dennis will be held at the Central United Church on Tuesday, December 29, 1998 at 1:30 pm. The Rev. Gordon Stevenson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brandon cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make a contribution in memory of Dennis, to the Canadian Cancer Society, 42 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, R7B 2B2. Thanks and love go out to special niece Pam (John) Drew; special friend this past month, Margot Parsons and over the years good friend Dan Sinclair. The family extends special thanks to friends and neighbors. The many visits, flowers, phone calls, letters and words of encouragement have touched us deeply. A special thank you goes to the great staff at the Assiniboine Centre, the General Health Sciences Centre H4, the Chemo dept., Dr. duPlooy and Dr. Johnston.
