Obituary

DUCHARME: Dennis James Ducharme of Brandon, formerly of The Pas, Manitoba, passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg on Tuesday, March 28, 2000. Dennis was born in The Pas, Manitoba on August 18, 1941. He received his education in The Pas and later in life furthered his studies at Assiniboine Community College. In his early years, Dennis enjoyed trapping with his father and brother each spring. He took great pride in his dog team and was always a hard worker at odd jobs for a little pocket change. As a young man, Dennis was a member of the Air Cadets and drove taxi in The Pas. Later he worked as a roofer for 5 years before getting into the iron industry as an iron worker. Dennis took great pride in his work. He loved to talk of old friends, jobs and most important his family. When driving around town, he would often reminisce about the jobs he had worked on including the 1st and 8th Street bridges, Scotia Towers, and the Brandon Gallery. Most major construction jobs in town had his handy work in it. He was especially proud of the Hydro Chimney and the Keystone Centre. Dennis worked up north and out west on Hydro dams. After he was unable to work he would putter in his work shed doing light woodwork. He was especially fond of his lathe. Dennis was very proud of his grandchildren. He enjoyed Amanda's video of her gymnastics. Then Brodie and Jessi came along in the fall to add to his joy, and all three were the apple of his eye. Dennis leaves to mourn his wife of 37 years, Grace; daughters Wendy (Bill) and Martha (Chris); son Allan (Tanis); grandchildren: Amanda, Brodie and Jessi. Also his sisters Deanna, Judy (Louis), Linda (Rae); brother Leonard and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Helena and Firman. The funeral service will be held at Memories Chapel on Monday, April 3, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Greg Foley officiating. Urn Bearer will be granddaughter, Amanda and Honorary Bearers grandson, Brodie and granddaughter, Jessi. Flowers are gratefully declined.
