Dennis Joseph Descoteau, born February 27th, 1943 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully October 12th, 2023 at the age of 80 at his home in Dinsdale Personal Care Home, Brandon, Manitoba.
Dennis is survived by siblings Darlene Crook and Bob Descoteau, wife Janice Cameron, children Deborah, Denny, Drew, grandchildren Adam, Dyson, Dylan, Karly, Viktoria, Asher, Isabella and is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mollie, brothers Gerry Palmer and Edmund Descoteau.
Dennis grew up on Home Street, Winnipeg, where he attended General Wolfe and Tec Voc schools respectively. Dennis had a love of all things mechanical, a keen interest in the out of doors and a passion for aviation.
As a young man Dennis participated in Air Cadets which led him to serve in the Royal Canadian Air Force Reserves 402 Squadron. Aviation was a passion for Dennis resulting in him successfully acquiring his glider pilot and glider instructor license and private pilot license.
Dennis worked for more than 40 years in the elevator industry both with Winnipeg Elevator and Otis Elevator. He was well thought of and respected for his trade and knowledge.
Dennis loved volunteering and collaborating with people of all ages. He was involved in Boy Scouts for many years allowing him to pass on his love for camping and canoeing. Once he retired, Dennis volunteered for the Salvation Army to support those in need including involvement in the response to 9/11 in New York.
Dennis will be missed for his infectious laughter, terrible jokes, his willingness to help others and his love of history.
Dennis' funeral service will take place November 2nd, 2023, at 2pm at The Salvation Army Citadel, Brandon, Manitoba, 9 Princess Avenue East.
Donations in memory of Dennis can be made to either to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Salvation Army.
