Obituary

ROSS: The death of David Hood Ross occurred on Wednesday, May 8, 2002 in Brandon. Dave was born and raised in a Saskatchewan farming community. He moved to Manitoba in his mid-teens to his father's ranch north of Alexander. During World War II, he served with the Armed Forces as a mechanic. For the past 53 years he managed the water pumping station for Rivers Air Base, which later became Hangar Farms. Dave was a Municipal Councilor for the RM of Daly from 1966 - 1989. He was a former Member of Riverdale Hospital Board, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion at Rivers and a Stroke Support group member in Brandon for the past seven years. Dave loved playing his fiddle, flying his plane "Pinky", and doing mechanical work in his shop. He leaves his beloved wife Mary Norrine Ross; daughters: Sue (Ray) Wrightson, Judy (Bill) Hume, Carolyn Ross; son Tim (Barb) Ross; stepson Dan (Susan) Reedy; and 12 grandchildren. He also leaves sisters: Mary Lindberg, Mable Kelly, Rose Madder, Helen (Bill) Sibbald, and Margaret Skinner. Dave was predeceased by; his first wife Connie; son David; his parents James and Isabella; brothers and sisters: Alex, Jim, Don, Bella and Jean. The Ceremony to Celebrate Dave's Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, on Monday, May 13, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Michael Wollbaum officiating. Pallbearers will be nephews: Ross Lindberg, Frank Skinner, Don Skinner, Jim Madder, Wayne Lindberg, and Gordon Kelly. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Friends who wish may make a donation in Dave's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 2B7.
