Obituary

The death of David Peter Conley, of Alexander, beloved husband of Velma occurred at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, September 24, 2003. David was born on July 11, 1924 in Brandon, the son of Thomas and Annie Conley. He was raised in Brandon and attended King George School. David served in World War II with the Winnipeg Rifles War Assets in Carberry. He worked as a trainman for C.N. Rail, as a milkman and supervisor with Modern Dairies and as a bus driver for Grey Goose Bus Line. David was a lifetime member at the Brandon Club and the Royal Canadian Legion #3, and a member of the Brandon Game and Fish Club. He enjoyed fishing, cribbage, bird watching and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was also proud of the five medals he was awarded for his service during WW II. David is survived by his wife Vel; daughters Lois (Lorne) Riley, Linda Lee, both of Brandon, and Dale (Cecil) Kristalovich of Alexander; sons Edward Conley, Cecil (Marion) Conley of Alexander and Terry (Janice Ratz) Conley of Brandon. He will also be remembered by his eleven grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brother Don (Edna) McGill of Winfield, BC, sisters Clara (Glen) Campbell of Brandon and Gertie Herbert of Burnaby, BC. David was predeceased by his parents, sister Gladys and brother Eddie. The Ceremony to Celebrate David's Life was held at Trinity United Church on Saturday, September 27, 2003. The Rev. John Nesbitt officiated. Interment followed in the Veterans' Section of the Brandon Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bob Wright, Wilf Jordan, Nick Shadlock, Ron Evans, Mike Linski and Garth Woods. Flowers are gratefully declined.
