David Austin Brownridge was born June 5, 1937 at Brandon General Hospital to Austin and Beth Brownridge. David attended the Bloomsbury country school and was proud to have hosted the one and only school reunion last year. He attended Earl Oxford and Brandon Collegiate and graduated from University of Manitoba with a diploma in Agriculture. In 1959, he married Darline Domstad and in 1960 they purchased the family farm where they've lived their 41 beautiful years of marriage. He was predeceased by his father in 1966 and his mother in 1996. He leaves to mourn his best friend and soulmate Darline, and his children, Janell of Beverly Hills, Sandi of Winnipeg, and Douglas (Susy) of Winnipeg. Also sister, Dorothy (Mel) Haithwaite, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. Dad lived his whole life near the Brandon Airport and developed a love of airplanes as a little boy. From that point on, he dreamed of flying. Over the last few years he began to build remote control planes and even managed to get some of them in the air! Over the years, Dad was involved with many organizations. Most recently, Dad served on the board of Central United Church as well as the Brandon Regional Health Board. Dad's humanitarianism made him the ideal person for both organizations. He hoped to help facilitate changes that would better the lives of everyone in Brandon and surrounding area. Dad had two great loves: his family and his farm. And, like everything else he did in his life, he gave it his very best. We could say so much about our Dad. His willingness and desire to discuss anything with anybody, how he played the piano so beautifully without ever having taken a lesson, how much he loved a good nap after lunch, and that he saw only the best in everybody. We knew as children, God had given us a special gift to have a Dad like him. We have to believe now that, although we cannot begin to imagine why, God's plan is at work; and the reason something so awful would happen to someone so wonderful, loving, and caring as our Dad will be revealed to us in this life or the next. This gives us great comfort. Our Dad touched the lives of everyone he met and everyone was better for it. You're our angel now Dad. You finally have wings. FLY, DAD, FLY. The ceremony to celebrate Dave's life will be held at Central United Church on Monday, November 6, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Brandon Cemetery. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Dad to the Central United Church (to go toward stained glass windows), 325 - 8th Street, Brandon or to the Brandon General Hospital Foundation for special equipment, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3.
