CPL. Daryle Jay McLennan, C.D.
(Military Retired)

McLENNAN: Suddenly on May 13 after a short fierce battle with cancer, Daryle McLennan passed away at Erickson Hospital. He was 77 years young. Survived by his beloved wife and sparring partner Marianne, son Wayne Lloyd, wife Judith V.(Erickson); two granddaughters: Sarah and Carrie (their mother Judy A.); Brother Ted and June (John & Kerri) all of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law Alice and Ernest Moritz, Joan and Robert Rieger, Bruno, Saskatchewan, Frances and Leona of Edmonton, Alberta; many nieces and nephews; many friends in Erickson and area, especially his buddy Ken and Karen Manary. Daryle was born June 3, 1928 at Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by: his parents William James and Audrey (Blue) McLennan; brothers Frank and Howard McLennan; one son and two daughters shortly after birth. Daryle joined the army in 1949 - 1955, and then transferred to R.C.A.F. 1955 - 1970. On May 31, 1952, Daryle and Marianne were married at C.J.A.T.C. Rivers, Manitoba. Son Wayne was born 1953 in Rivers. Daryle earned his wings (airborne) in 1951 and made many jumps (including landing in Clear Lake at night). He went on to serve in Korea, N.A.T.O. (France), many bases in Canada (Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec, Arctic). Medals UN, Korea, NATO C.D. and special peace keeping. Retired, again from long haul trucking, due to age in 1995 and a roll-over. Daryle drove anything on wheels including his big achievement the 20-ton crane (Giraffe), DJ Radio (CFNG France), Nuclear Defence Inst., Para rescue, mechanic and stats clerk. "He was proud to serve his country". Daryl volunteered in Erickson and R.M. of Clanwilliam as Environmental Waste Handler (Hazard mats) also a sub for the waste disposal site; when needed. His favorite saying, "I do the best I are". Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at a later date in the Erickson cemetery. Donations to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 0V9 or to a charity of choice.
