Coming from a military family, mom was fortunate to travel the country and attend school in various cities across Canada and Germany. She received her diploma in Brandon and took courses at Assiniboine Community College. She held a variety of jobs during her lifetime and finished her career with the Manitoba Lotteries Corporation. As a youngster, mom's greatest joy was horseback riding, and her love of the outdoors continued into her adult years. She enjoyed many days of fishing at Thomas Lake, hunting and gardening. On a cold winter day, you could be sure to find her working on a puzzle, doing her crafts or out on the lake ice fishing. She was a loyal supporter of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3 and #153 and a member of their dart league. Mom also enjoyed being a leader with the Brownies and Girl Guides in Deloraine, MB. Shyrel was predeceased by: her father, Gerry Dane; grandparents Michael and Anne Smilski and nephew Jimmy McKie. Cremation took place on April 5, 2005. At mom's request, no formal service will take place, as she wished to have family and friends gather for a celebration of life. The celebration will take place on Monday, April 11, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Trails West Motor Inn banquet room.
