Obituary

Danny David Plewes, born April 29, 1953, passed away suddenly on November 18, 1999 at the age of 46 years in Roblin, Manitoba. Danny was born and raised in Brandon. When he was about 12 years old, he joined the Navy League and then moved up to Sea Cadets. While there, he travelled to easten Canada as far as C.F.B. Borden, ON and western Canada as far as Comox, BC, where he rode on a Hercules aircraft. For many years, Danny lived out west, where he owned his own business installing carpets. When he moved back to Brandon, he attended Assiniboine Community College where he received his Carpentry Certificate. He met his wife to be, Kathy in the spring of 1985 and by December 1985 they were married. From Brandon, they moved to Winnipeg, where he had several carpentry jobs before landing a position at Builders Furniture. Unfortunately, while employed there, Danny sustained a back injury that would end his career in carpentry. After several years of painful therapy and eventual back surgery, the Worker's Compensation Board enrolled him in the technical course at South Winnipeg Tech. Upon completion, he was asked to work for Manitoba Lotteries as a Service Technician and eventually transferred to Roblin with his family. Danny loved his job. He enjoyed to travel and meet different people along his routes as well as the staff he worked with. Danny also enjoyed fishing and camping. He always looked forward to his loner trips to "some island on a lake". There was however, nothing he loved more than taking his children camping and fishing. Danny is survived by his loving wife Kathy of almost fourteen years and children; David, age 11 and Becky, age 9, all of Roblin. Also surviving are his parents, Ismay and David Plewes of Brandon, sister Dianne Moore and Elwin Becker of Brandon, sister, Denise and Tony Ward of Winnipeg. There are several nephews and nieces: Dwayne Moore of Brandon, Dana (Moore) and Chris Yuen of Hamiota, Aaron and Selina Ward of Winnipeg as well as several aunts and uncles. Danny also leaves his mother and father-in-law, Phyllis and John Barschewsky of Pine River, a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Sandi Barschewsky of Pine River, sister-in-law, Evelyn Barschewsky and Allen Trippier of Winnipeg and a brother and sister-in-law, Lucy and Wade Baxted of Winnipeg.
