Obituary

SANDERSON: Daisy Agnes Sanderson passed away at Hillcrest Place on Saturday, December 9, 2006. Daisy was born on July 22, 1908 in Arcola, Saskatchewan to John and Jane Maxwell. After the loss of her mother and father at a very young age to a flu epidemic, Daisy and her two brothers and two sisters went to live with family and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Stewart who had no family of their own took Daisy and raised her. The siblings all kept in touch while growing up. When the time came for her to strike out on her own she worked as a caregiver and hairdresser. She met Alf Cox who came over from England after the war. They married and farmed together and enjoyed attending country dances where dad played the drums in a band. After farming in Saskatchewan they moved east of Brandon to the Gorrie district where they farmed and raised their family of eight. They later moved to Brandon where Alf passed away in 1955. Daisy worked for many years to look after the younger boys and never ran out of energy. Daisy married Charlie Sanderson and they lived in Calgary and Brandon. Charlie had three children Millie, Barb, and Lloyd. Mom and Charlie travelled to Las Vegas many times. Daisy loved playing Bingo and cards, doing ceramics, embroidering, and sewing. She sewed most of her family's clothes when they were young. Mom was always interested in her family's activities; their visits and family gatherings. She enjoyed the young people telling them about the good old days. Daisy lived for 10 years in a suite at Wilma and Clarence's before moving to Hillcrest Place where the staff were very special people to her. Daisy leaves to mourn her children and their families Wilma (Clarence) Gilbert, Mac (Betty) Cox, Reg (Bernie) Cox, Wayne (Barb) Cox; daughters-in-law Pat Cox and Dawn Cox. Daisy was predeceased by her husband Charlie Sanderson; daughters and sons-in-law Danelda (Mel) Karnes, Gloria (John) Munro; sons Ken and Jim Cox; sisters Marg and Lurena and brothers Bill and Jack. A private Family Service will be held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, December 16, 2006. Sherri Sawatsky-Dyck will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Daisy may be made to the Arthritis Society, 153 8th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 3W9 or to the Manitoba Lung Association, 8-940 Princess Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 0P6.
