BUTLER: Cyril "Cy" William Butler found peace on Friday, June 6, 2003 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Cy was born on November 10, 1928 to Ernest and Ida Butler in Brandon, Manitoba. He married Hazel Love on June 18, 1960 in Brandon and spent their years together living in Brandon. Together they raised their three daughters, Jo-ann, Lois and Melanie. Cy was a sales representative for 32 years, and was employed with Coca-Cola Limited, The Codville Co. Ltd and Moirs Chocolates Ltd. When Moirs Chocolates was sold to another company, he left the company rather than relocate. A short time later, he secured a position as a law clerk with Meighen, Haddad & Co. here in Brandon, and stayed with the firm for nine years. Cy developed servere arthritis in both knees and in 1987 he decided to retire. He served 5 years on the Board of Directors for the Associated Canadian Travelers of Brandon, and he held every office (except secretary) in the Brandon Lions Club, including past president. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 43 years, Hazel; his daughters, Jo-ann (Garry) Defoort, Lois (Allan) Mott and Melanie (Jamie) Hart, all of Brandon. He will also be greatly missed by his three grandchildren, Erica and Shawn Defoort and Mathew Mott; sister, Doris (Ron) Kinsley of Pembroke, Ontario and brother, Ken Butler (and special friend Diane) of The Pas, Manitoba, nieces, nephews and extended family. Cy was predeceased by his father, Ernest on October 8, 1980 and mother, Ida on December 9, 1999 and recently by his older brother Clarence "Ernie" Butler. Funeral service was held at Memories Chapel on Tuesday, June 10, 2003. Mona Franklin officiated. Pallbearers were: Garry Defoort, Allan Mott, Jamie Hart and Shawn Defoort. All friends and family in attendance were considered Honorary Pallbearers. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Cy may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 42 McTavish Ave. E. Brandon, MB R7A 2B2 or to the Brandon Regional Health Foundation, Dialysis Unit, 150 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB R7A 2B3. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to memorieschapel@mts.net.
