Obituary

Cory Sobchuk, age 38 years, passed away in a tragic house fire on Monday, June 5, 2023 in Brandon.

Cory's greatest joys in life were his children, Marlee, Myles and McKinley. He lived every day for his family and wanted nothing more than to be the best dad possible.

His happy place was camping on the beach in Minnedosa, where he would spend hours playing in the water or on the soccer field with all the kids. The rule in the lake community was, "You play with our kids, and we will feed yours". When he wasn't playing, he would recharge by solo kayaking along the Little Saskatchewan River. Through the years of camping in Minnedosa, Cory made many new friends who quickly became his "Lake Family".

Cory took great pride in working at RCB Trucking with an amazing group of people; we are very grateful that Cory always knew the RCB Team had his back.

Growing up, Cory had a tight group of friends and despite life sending them in all different directions, the friends that remained, meant a lot to him.

As Cory was always a very private person, the family will cherish his memory privately.

Donations in memory of Cory may be made to The Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, 533A-715 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 1M6 or the GoFundMe to support Cory's children, https://gofund.me/a1bd2b23 .

Cory was very loved by his family and friends, too many to list, but they all share in the grief and sadness of losing him. He will leave a major void in many hearts.

"Some people want material things. Me, I just want peace, happy times and people who love me."
