GRANT: Collin James "Jim" Grant passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, May 11, 2008. Jim was born on July 27, 1941 at Cartwright, Manitoba. He attended school in Hamiota, Manitoba. Jim worked for Jamieson's grocery store from high school and then for the highways department until his accident in 1989. He was a member of UCT and A.N. & A.F. In his early years Jim was active in baseball and hockey. He was very proud when the Hamiota Red Sox were inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame for 1959 - 1964. In the years after his accident, he loved to drive around town visiting numerous people. He had a great sense of humour, and loved a good practical joke. Jim is survived by his children: Dexter (Debbie) and their children Stephen and Daniel; Robin (Joe) Davis and children Brayden, Bryce and Farryn; Darrell (Angela) and their children Justin, Alanna, and Spencer; one great grandson Alex and one brother Bill (Betty). Jim was predeceased by his parents Collin and Amy Grant. A private family graveside ceremony was held on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the Brandon Cemetery. Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood of Central United Church officiated. Donations in memory of Jim may be made to Helping Hands, 111 7th Street, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 3S5.
