NICHOLS: Clifford Allan. January 6, 1934 - February 9, 2008. With sadness, we say a loving goodbye to our husband, father, grandpa, brother and uncle. Remaining to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 45 years, Ruth; daughters Kerri (Thorsten), Shelley (Mark), and Lori (Jake); sister Marge Gerrard, and brothers Jack and Arthur Nichols Junior. Cliff also leaves behind five wonderful grandchildren whom he loved and cherished: Joshua, Jacob, Samuel, Isabella, and Jackson. Cliff was born to Arthur and Margaret Nichols on January 6, 1934 and was raised on a small farm in the Castleavery District. Cliff met his future wife, Ruth, while teaching in The Pas, Manitoba. They were married on August 25, 1962 and had three wonderful daughters together. Cliff's life can be remembered by his patience, kindness and strength. His dedication and service to his family and community are a testament to the values he held dear. Cliff was who he was. He was never critical of others and treated everyone as his equal. His selflessness, humour and wisdom made him many close friends. Cliff spent hours volunteering with the Elks Lodge, both in The Pas and later in Brandon. His love and devotion to his family was evident in his tireless patience in teaching his three girls to ride a bike, drive an ATV, water ski, play cards and thread a hook through the eye of a minnow. The cabin at Clearwater Lake holds many wonderful memories for the entire family. Cliff's love of life and learning will never be forgotten. He exhibited his eternal optimism to those around him even in his final days. Cliff's time on earth demonstrated the highest qualities of honour, faith and love. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Palliative Care ward, especially to the kind nurses who showed such grace and compassion. A Memorial service was held on Thursday, February 14th, 2008 at Knox United Church, Brandon with Rev. David Cathcart officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Castleavery Cemetery. In keeping with Cliff's dedication to numerous charities, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
