Obituary

The death of Clarence Melvin Haynes, beloved husband of Harriet, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, July 13, 2003. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Thu4rsday, July 17, 2003 from 7:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. The Funeral Ceremony will be held at Memories Chapel on Friday, July 18, 2003 at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Don Hudson of Knox United Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Clarence to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. HAYNES: The death of Clarence Melvin Haynes, beloved husband of Harriet, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, July 13, 2003. Clarence was born in the Rural Municipality of Pipestone on August 22, 1916. Early in his life, the family moved from the farm in Pipestone to Brandon. Clarence attended Alexandra and Fleming Elementary School and finished his schooling at Earl Haig Junior High. Clarence met his wife Harriet in 1939 and they married in April of 1942. Together they lived at 727-20th St. for 11 years then bought their first home at 630-19th Street. After 10 years they moved into their home at 648-21st St. where they remained for 38 years. They raised two sons Jim and Bob. His first job was with Brockie Funeral Home and later as a sales person at Voy's Furniture. In 1951, Clarence joined Anglo-Canadian Oil where he worked in the refinery for 18 years. After the closing of the refinery, Clarence moved on to Simplot Chemicals where he worked for 12 years until his retirement in 1981. For more than 50 years, Clarence was a devoted member of the Knox United Church, in addition to being a member of the Forresters for several years. Having an interest in mechanics, Clarence taught himself how to repair cars and engines. He also coached a championship Little League Baseball team in his spare time. Clarence is survived by: his wife Harriet; son, James and grandsons Jeremy and Jordan of Toronto, Ontario and son Robert and wife Brenda Kingdon and granddaughter Sara of Panama City, Florida. He is also survived by; a brother Len and sister Greta Graham. He was predeceased by: parents Frederick and Sophronia; sisters, Vera and Bertina. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Friday, July 18, 2003 at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Don Hudson of Knox United Church officiated. Interment was in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
