SHOLDICE: On Wednesday February 7th, 2007, Cheryl Feryne Sholdice, with her family by her side, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Winnipeg on November 27, 1948 to Harold (Scotty) and Shirley Leader, the family moved to Brandon in 1955. Cheryl attended school in Brandon, and after graduating with a business degree from the Agricultural Extension Centre, she was employed in the accounting department of the brand new Simplot Chemical Company LTD. It was here she met her future husband Clay. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Clay; her loving sons Richard (Margaret Maurice) and Shane (Kim Ksiazek); parents Harold and Shirley Leader; sister Diane (Ken) Curtis; nieces Alissa (Steve) Reid and Dana (Shane) Smith; sister Heather (Neville) Beck; nieces Karen (Anthony) and baby Miara Kalcounis and Adrienne Beck; numerous precious cousins, aunties, uncles, as well as many dear friends, and special furry friend Lottie the cat. Cheryl and Clay moved often in their first 12 years of marriage, forming wonderful friendships in White River, Calgary, and Moose Jaw, before returning to Brandon 26 years ago to raise their sons close to friends and relatives. Upon returning to Brandon, Cheryl worked for Dunwoody Co., Robert Klym C.A., and Ken Bellas C.A. until illness forced her to retire. Cheryl's pride and joy were her two sons and her favourite times were preparing meals for family get-togethers, working in her yard, and taking off for a day or a weekend of golf with Clay, family, and friends. Cheryl considered herself not a good golfer, but an avid golfer. She thought no game was a bad game because you could always enjoy the beautiful outdoors and the company of friends and family no matter what the scorecard showed. A beautiful celebration of Cheryl's life was held at Memories Chapel on Monday February 12th. Rev. Shannon McCarthy officiated. Eulogist was Shane Sholdice. Urn Bearer was Richard Sholdice. Honorary Bearers were Michael and Betty Ksiazek, Monty and Cindy Whitney, Grant and Shirley Watson, and Bernadette Dupont. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Cheryl may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Palliative Care, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 2B3 or to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Floor 2 - 119 Marion Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2H 0T2.
