Obituary

Catherine Eva (Kay) Carnegie, beloved wife of George, dear mother of Stuart, Susan and Nancy, passed away at her reisdence, Fairview Home on Friday, December 1, 2000. Kay was born at Morden, Manitoba on June 27, 1921. She was raised on the family farm south of Myrtle. Kay moved to Winnipeg in 1941 with her mother and sister Doris. She married George Carnegie in 1946. She and George moved to Brandon in 1968. During her many years in Brandon, Kay was an active member in Knox United Church and then in Central United Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, curling, golf and baseball. As an active volunteer, she would be seen working at church functions, the Brandon Hospital, the Heart Foundation and at Linden lanes School. Kay is survived by her husband, George, son Stuart (Leona) of Winnipeg and daughters; Susan of Brandon and Nancy (Michael) of Kenora, ON. Grandchildren: Jeremy, Kathryn, Todd and Alison. She is also survived by her sister, Doris Reid of Carman, brother, Bill Bell of Alberta, sister-in-law Janet Bell and numerous nieces and nephews, friends and her beloved dogs, Snoopy and Button. Kay was predeceased by her parents, Edythe and William Bell; brothers, Robert and Norman Bell; sisters, Helen Thompson and Bessie Reichert. She was also predeceased by her mother and father-in-law, Mary and Robert Carnegie, sisters-in-law; Betty Bell, Ethel Bell and Joyce Graves and brothers-in-law, Nelson Thompson, Edmond Reichert, Fred Carnegie and Doug Reid. The Ceremony to Celebrate Kay s Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Tuesday, December 5, 2000 at 2:30 pm. The Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood of Central United Church will officiate. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Kay to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 437-9th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4A9 or to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200-17th Street East, Brandon, MB.
