It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a strong Dakota woman, Carrie Rose Blacksmith on Sunday, February 9, 2025.
Carrie was born and raised in Sioux Valley, Manitoba. She moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1989 which was home until she passed. Carrie was a talented beader who also taught beading in a couple elementary schools. She enjoyed playing crib, and other cards games as well as bingo.
Carrie is predeceased by her parents Jim and Jennie Blacksmith. Brothers; William Blacksmith, Clarence, Clifford and Mike. Sisters; Jean Elk, Eva McKay, Amy Stonechild, Marie, Grace, Juno, Ivy, and Bertha Chief.
Carrie is survived by her 3 children Malcolm (Kat), Clarice, Knowlton(Aimee). Traditional children, Brooke Blackhorse, and Floyd Jr. Blackhorse, her grandchildren Chantille, River, Adam, Nigel, Legacy, Sierra, Tianna, Neveah, Jennie, her great grandchildren; Adam Jr. Ares, Firestar, Mato, Zoey
Traditional wake will be held at Sioux Valley, Manitoba on Monday, February 17, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. with departure from Memories Chapel 330-18th Street North, Brandon Manitoba. A Traditional Funeral will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
