Obituary

Carol Ann Peters died suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, September 28, 2001, with her partner and kindred spirit, Bert Lesage, at Notre Dame de Lourdes. Her joyful laughter and smile will be missed. Cherishing Carol's memory are: her children, Brad, Lisa, Carla and Jesse Hansen; her parents, Art and Shirley Peters; her siblings, Bev (barb); Doug (Barb); Gordon (Diane); Pat (Gene) Hyde; David (Sharon); Karen (Mike) Bootsman; Harry (Shannon); and Cindy (Paul) Dick; her nieces and nephews, Jen (Rick) and their son, Van; Jason, Jenna, Nicholas, Cory, Devin, Michael, Allison, Nathan, Jonathan, Leah, David, Kelly Jo, Caitlin, Jordan, Matthew, Janna, Dylan and Nathan. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers. Carol was born on March 14, 1958, to Arthur and Shirley Peters, a middle child of a large farm family in Rapid City. She attended school in Rapid City and Forrest. Carol graduated with a Diploma of Nursing from the Brandon General Hospital in 1978. She was married to Brent Hansen for 11 years, with whom she had four wonderful children. Carol was the kind of mom the kids could call at work at least once per shift, a quick settler of disputes over the television, a terrific chauffeur and sports-mom. Housework took a constant back-seat as there was always fun to be had with her children. She was always a steady source of affection and affirmation. Carol worked as a staff nurse on 400 (medicine) at the Brandon General Hospital for most of her nursing career. She was an assured and confident nurse, kind and caring with her patients, ably meeting the varied and difficult demands of nursing. Carol was a person who took joy in the small pleasures of life: baiting a fishing hook, sitting around a campfire at a family gathering, country walks on a fall day, chuckling with friends, or winning a game of canasta. She had just started a new chapter of her life moving to Notre Dame to live with Bert. Two peas in a pod, they delighted in being together, growing tomatoes, fishing, cycling, making plans, opening their arms and home for each other's large extended families. Carol's sudden death leaves much undone and unsaid. We are grateful for forty-three years, but part of our ball team is now missing. Carol will always be loved and held in our hearts. The Funeral Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 339 - 12th Street, Brandon on Wednesday, October 3, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Carol may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330. Memorials
