Carol Pashnyk
October 27th, 1944 – January 13th, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Louise Pashnyk, age 81.
Carol was raised near Erickson and later moved to Winnipeg at age 16. It was while working at Brooke Bond Foods, that she met the love of her life, George. George and Carol were married in 1964 and enjoyed nearly 61 years together.
Their daughter, Sandra, came along in 1971 and the family soon found themselves settling in Brandon. Over the years, furry friends joined the family: Holly, Chrysie, Cookie and Jewel.
Carol took great pride in maintaining a lovely yard, and a clean, spotless home. It is possible that the word meticulous was created for her.
Carol had a warm and welcoming spirit. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and was highly regarded for the exceptional meals and baking that she would prepare. As a reflection of her Ukrainian background, no one ever left Carol’s house still feeling hungry.
Outside of visits, Carol enjoyed phone calls and letters, to catch up with everyone. She will also be remembered for her recounting of past adventures and comical stories, from over the years.
Carol had many other hobbies that included reading, bingo, fishing, watching curling, sewing, and knitting. Carol would often give away hand-knit mittens at Christmas time. She also enjoyed the occasional excursion to the casino, meeting friends from all around the area. Carol also loved music and enjoyed attending Sandra and Kelsey’s band events.
George and Carol spoke highly about the great neighbours they had, who were so helpful and kind over the years.
The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff of the Assiniboine Center, for the care given to Carol.
Carol was predeceased by her husband, George in 2025. She is survived by daughter, Sandra, and “favorite” son-in-law Kelsey, along with her grand dog Reka. She also leaves behind many treasured nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins and friends.
There will be no formal funeral as per Carol’s wishes.
Donations may be made in Carol’s memory to The Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1379 Kenaston Boulevard, Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5, or BRHC Foundation, www.brhcfoundation.ca , Selecting Cancer Services or 150 McTavish Ave East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3, or an animal charity of your choice.
