Carmen peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the age of 84, surrounded by her loving family from Brandon, Toronto, and the Philippines.

Born in the Philippines, Carmen courageously began a new chapter in 1967 when she immigrated to North America. She first worked as a nurse in Chicago before moving to Winnipeg, where she met the love of her life, Ricardo (Ric) Paggao. Together they made their home in Brandon in 1972, where they built a beautiful life together. Just one day before her passing, on July 31, they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary - a testament to a lifetime of love, partnership, and unwavering devotion.

In Brandon, Carmen dedicated her career to caring for others as an Operating Room Nurse, a profession she truly loved. She served her patients and colleagues with skill, compassion, and dedication until her retirement in 2000. Nursing was more than a career to her – it was a calling, and she took great pride in the lives she touched throughout her years of service.

Carmen shared 55 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband Ric, who was her best friend, life partner, and greatest love. Together they raised two sons, Albert (Eleana) and Ricky (Jamellah), and were blessed with their cherished grandchildren: Jayde, Jasmin, Jett, Jaze, and Javin.

Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy and the center of her world. Mom's fierce love for her family goes beyond words. She was always happiest when surrounded by those she loved, offering unwavering support, encouragement, and care. Her strength, determination, and yes, even her stubbornness, were part of what made her so special. She loved deeply, gave selflessly, and her stubbornness and unconditional love will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

While our hearts are broken by her passing, we take comfort in our faith, knowing that Mom is now with God in Heaven, at peace and free from pain. Her love, kindness, strength, and strong guidance will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A reception will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Memories Chapel, located at 330-18th Street North in Brandon, Manitoba.
