MYERS: Calvin George Myers, 81 years, passed away on October 22, 2007 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Calvin was born May 1, 1926 in Belmont, Manitoba. He received his education there and spent his earlier years on the family farm. In 1957, Calvin married Marlene Morrow in Crandall, Manitoba and they settled in Belmont until 1959, when they decided to lift roots and move to Souris, Manitoba. He worked at the Souris Creamery and also owned and operated the B & B Drive Inn. In 1976, Marlene and Calvin decided to move to Brandon with their four children. Calvin spent many years doing construction work in and around Brandon, until the time of his retirement, becoming known to be quite a handy man. Upon retirement he spent many leisurely hours listening to old time favorites, country music, playing cards, and watching sports on TV. He cherished the moments he had with all his family but when those little girls, Alexa and Mikaela walked in the door, he lit up and the first words out of his mouth were: "Where's my little girls?" A phrase that will remain in our hearts and memories for years to come. On August 3, 2007, Marlene and Calvin celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary, enjoying many wonderful memories with family and friends. We will not forget his strong silent presence. Marlene was his diamond in the ruff as he was hers. Calvin was predeceased by his son Darcy; parents; one brother, one sister mother and father-in-law, and one brother-in-law. Survived by his loving wife and life companion Marlene; son Kerry (Linda), grandchildren Devon and Logan of Wawamun, Alberta; daughter Jacqueline (Rob), grandchildren Rodney, Robert, Ray; daughter Kimberley; daughter-in-law Linda; granddaughter of choice Donna (Mike) and great-grandchildren Alexa and Mikaela; special friends Ron and June Klier all of Brandon. Two brothers, four sisters, one brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive. As our family mends their hearts we are thankful for no more pain and suffering, for we will all meet again at the golden gates. Footprints
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also notices that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, You said that once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." The Lord replied, "My son, My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I Carried You."Memorials
