STOBBE: Bruce John, 1956 -2002. On July 19, 2002, my treasured husband and Jay's dearest dad tragically left us. Bruce's memory will be cherished by, his wife, Erliss; son Jay; father John; mother, Freda; sisters, Susan (John) Dodds and Sandi (David) Bird, father-in-law, Earl McPhail and eight nieces and nephews. Bruce resided at the Brandon Research Station for many years where his father was employed and where Bruce also worked in his early adult life. Bruce attended Earl Oxford and Vincent Massey Schools as well as Brandon University. In his early years, Bruce enjoyed playing baseball and attending Sea Cadets. His many lifetime passions included cross-country, alpine and water skiing, reading, boating, gardening, biking and hiking. Bruce had a true love of learning and a natural ability to project that to young people. Bruce enjoyed his teaching job at Vincent Massey High School immensely. A mutual love of skiing brought Bruce and his partner in life- Erliss together in the early 1980's. They were married in 1986. Bruce was a supportive, loving partner, who always gave 100% to his relationship. A defining moment for Bruce occurred in 1993, when his son, Jay Dylan arrived. From the minute Bruce became a "Dad", his focus was on Jay. His pride and joy, with whom he spent countless hours with. Bruce, Erliss and Jay enjoyed nine fabulous summers together at the cottage. Bruce built their "place in the sun" at Minnedosa Lake. Bruce's untimely death has left a huge void in many lives, but his memory will forever live on. Cremation has taken place and a Ceremony to Celebrate Bruce's Life was held on Wednesday (today), July 24, 2002. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brandon Firefighters Charity Fund, 136-11th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4J4 or to the Minnedosa Library Fund, Box 1226, Minnedosa, MB, R0J 1E0. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330. Memorials
