The death of Brett Leganchuk occurred suddenly at The Brandon Regional Health Centre on Thursday, November 16, 2000. Brett is heaven's very special child. Although he never spoke, Brett was able to communicate to everyone with his sincere heartfelt smile, it was contagious to all who met him. Brett attended school at Beginnings Pre-school, George Fitton, Riverheights and Neelin High School. Brett was in the life skills program at Neelin where he met a very special friend, Peggy McLeod. She shared Brett's daily activities with him. Organizations he was involved with were Westman Riding for the Disabled and ACL Brandon. He received the "Yes I Can" award for community involvement and awareness, and volunteered weekly at the Dinsdale Personal Care Home. He loved going to the family cabin at Sandy Lake, where he could be seen sea-dooing, snow mobiling, quading, going for walks, eating ice cream, enjoying a camp fire or hanging out in his "castle" on the lake shore. He was the greatest and most committed fan at all the sports games of his sister, Amber. Brett loved to watch hockey, football, curling, the Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and most recently forming an interest in figure skating. Brett is survived by his loving parents, Milton and Kim, sister, Amber (fiance' Kristen Perzan), grandparents, Hope and Steve Linski and Mary and James Leganchuk, very special friend Peggy (George) McLeod, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
