COULING: Bessie Couling, of Souris, formerly of the Hayfield district, passed away peacefully at the Souris Personal Care Home, Souris, Manitoba on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the age of 96 years. The Ceremony to Celebrate Bessie's Life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Rev. John Oldenkamp of Souris United Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bessie may be made to the Assiniboine Regional Health Authority, for Palliative Care, Box 10, Souris, Manitoba, R0K 2C0. COULING: Bessie Christina Couling, formerly of the Hayfield district, passed away peacefully at the Souris Personal Care Home, Souris, Manitoba on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the age of 96 years. Mom was born in the Oakland Municipality on August 2, 1911 and was educated at the Dalton School. Mom worked at Braggs General Store in Wapella, Saskatchewan and Rumford's Laundry in Brandon. In 1944, Bessie married Russell Couling where they farmed on the Homestead in the Hayfield District until 1971, retiring to an acreage, moved to Oddfellows Lodge in Brandon in 1985 then to the Souris Personal Care Home in 2002. Mom was a member of the Carroll UCW. Mom enjoyed gardening, traveling, especially to visit family, curling, baseball, playing cards and games, knitting, crocheting, dancing, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Bessie was predeceased by her parents; husband Russell Couling; brother Lambert Shepherd; sisters Dorothy Kohn and Agnes Timmins. She will be lovingly remembered by sons Don (Joyce) and Gordon (Lorraine) and daughter Betty; grandchildren: Bev (Brian) Sobry, Allan (Lynn-Rae), Murray, Garry (Lisa), Chris (Lori); great - grandchildren: Dawson, Myles, Hayden, MacKenzie, Ryan, Zach, Tristen, and Beth. Also survived by nieces and nephews. The Ceremony to Celebrate Bessie's Life was held at Memories Chapel, on Saturday, October 27, 2007. Rev. John Oldenkamp of Souris United Church officiated. Interment took place at Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bessie may be made to the Assiniboine Regional Health Authority, for Palliative Care, Box 10, Souris, Manitoba, R0K 2C0. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel.


COULING
A warm thank you to all who expressed support, compassion and attendance at the service for the loss of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Bessie Couling. Phone calls, visits, offerings of food, baking, flowers, cards, donations and expressions of sympathy comforted us during these difficult days. Special thanks to all staff at the Souris Personal Care Home and Rev. John Oldenkamp.
