TREVECH: Bertha Nellie Trevech went to be with her Lord, peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2008. Bertha was born in Clanwilliam, Manitoba, the youngest of six children. She attended Empire School. Her first years of her marriage, to husband William, were spent in Toronto. Shortly after moving back to Manitoba, she was widowed at a young age and did a wonderful job raising her two daughters on her own. Bertha attended and was very involved at St. Hedwig's Church and later St. Augustine's Church. She loved her family, friends and the family pets. She enjoyed feeding and watching birds, gardening, her flowers, dancing, music, and cooking. She had her favorite dishes, which were passed down by family. Bertha was known for helping people and putting other's needs ahead of her own. She had a very strong faith and was always praying for her family, friends and anyone she thought needed a prayer. Christmas was her favorite time of year: baby Jesus, Midnight Mass, family and celebration. She is survived by her daughters Phyllis, and Cathy; grandma's little boy, Charlie (family pet); sister-in-law Florence; extended family Jan and Sig Eiriksson; as well as many nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews. Bertha was predeceased by her parents Anthony and Frances Swiscoski; husband William; one sister Mary; and brothers: Frank, Bill, Paul and Melvin. Eulogy was given at 10:45 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2008. Fr. Dominic Yuen officiated. Pallbearers were Joanne Dobson, Robyn Reynolds, Sig Eiriksson, Dave Dobson, Pastor Mike Davis, and Jack Kwiatkowski. A private family interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Bertha may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 17th Street East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 7M6 or to a charity of choice.
