ROE, Bernice Arvilla (nee Jones): Mom went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at her residence, Fairview Personal Care Home, after a brief illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Fred Roe; and two daughters, Darlene (Neal) Boyce and Diane (Don) Mitchell. She is also survived by her sister, Fern Fraser; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren, as well as one niece, Elaine (Loren) Braun; two nephews, Tom (Robin) Wiebe and Tim (Eleanor) Wiebe and their families. Mom was predeceased by: her parents, Emma and Thomas Jones; and one sister, Nessa Wiebe. Mom was the eldest of three girls, raised on a farm near Invermay, Saskatchewan. She attended Chain-of-Lakes School near Invermay and then went to Bible College in Prince Albert. She met her husband, Fred, through a newspaper ad and they were married in Wadena, Saskatchewan on September 16, 1953. They moved to a small farm in the Neelin district. Twin daughters, Darlene and Diane, were born the next year. In 1956 the family moved to Selkirk, Manitoba. She was very active in the church there, teaching Sunday School for a number of years. When Fred retired from Lakeland Dairies, they settled in Brandon, where they spent many years enjoying their family. She loved to go to camp at Ninette every year for holidays and made that a regular part of her life. When Mom's health failed, she moved to Fairview Home and after a year Dad joined her. Mom always lived for her family and had a strong faith in the Lord.
