The death of Bernice Lily Newitt occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, March 23, 2003. Funeral arrangements are pending with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.

NEWITT: The death of Bernice Lily Newitt, beloved wife of the late Ray Newitt, mother of Barry (Beverley) Newitt and Beverley (Norman) Bridgeman, occurred at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, March 23, 2003. The funeral service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Friday, March 28, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Brian Kirsch of Faith Fellowship Baptist Church will officiate. Private family interment will follow at the Rapid City Cemetery. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Bernice to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Westman Region, B 727-10th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4G7 or to a charity of ones choice. NEWITT: Bernice Lily Newitt passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 23, 2003 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Bernice was born on September 1, 1915 at Rapid City, MB, the youngest daughter of Richard and Mary Underhill. She moved with her parents to the farm at Moline, MB in 1920. She attended school at Moline and graduated from Rapid City High School. Bernice married Ray Newitt on October 14, 1939. They began farming at Moline in 1940 and farmed until Ray's passing in 1974. Bernice continued to live on the farm, enjoying the closeness of her family. She was an active member of the Moline community. In October 1993, Bernice moved to the Lion's Manor in Brandon. She enjoyed the morning coffee gatherings, shuffleboard, cards and being part of the "Manor" family. Bernice leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Barry (Beverley) Newitt, their children, Bruce (Jennifer) Newitt and Sheri (Bradley) Cholin; her daughter, Beverley (Norman) Bridgeman, and their children, Cindy (Ken) Nolan, Chad (Rhonda) Bridgeman, Marty (Kat) Bridgeman and Dallas (Cori) Bridgeman. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Cody and Courtney Nolan, Stefanie, Colby and Chase Bridgeman and Jayden Bridgeman and serveral nieces and nephews. Bernice was predeceased by her parents, beloved husband Ray, brother Ross (Evelyn) Underhill and sister Vera (Harvey) McKay. The Ceremony to Celebrate Bernice's life was held at Memories Chapel on March 28, 2003. Pastor Brian Kirsch of Faith Fellowship Baptist Church officiated. Interment followed at the Rapid City Cemetery. For those desiring, donations in memory of Bernice may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7, Canadian Diabetes Association, Westman Region, B 727-10th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4G7 or to a charity of one's choice. NEWITT: The family of the late Bernice Newitt wish to express their heartfelt appreciation to relatives, friends and neighbours for their thoughtfulness and compassion during Mother's time in the hospital and since her passing. Thank you for the cards, flowers, prayers, food, visits, phone calls, memorial donations and to all those who attended the funeral service. Our thanks to the doctors and nursing staff on A2 at the Assiniboine Centre, for the compassionate care Mother received. A special thank you to Pastor Brian Kirsch and organist Doreen Stapleton.
