KOBIALKA: Bernice Kobiakla, beloved mother of Bonnie, passed away in Brandon on May 1, 2008. Bernice was born at Kelleher, Saskatchewan on May 7, 1936, daughter of Joe and Mary Kobialko. She received her early education at Kelleher while living on the family farm. Bernice married Fred Poets and they moved to Hamilton, Ontario, where she worked on a tobacco farm, worked as a nurse's aid and also worked as a cook. Bernice later returned to Brandon, where she was employed as a cook at the Brandon University. She loved horses and dogs, warm sunshine, walking and working in her garden. Her labors in the garden resulted in much produce that she would cook and serve to family and friends. Bernice later was a volunteer at Helping Hands in the city, where she was always willing to assist those in need. Bernice is survived by, her daughter Bonnie Poets. She also leaves brothers, John Kobialko, Stan (Heather) Korchoski, sister, Jean Benvennutti and step-sister, Nellie Pawlic. She also leaves a special nephew and niece, Billy and Gabriel Kobialko as well as numerous other nieces and nephews and their families. Bernice was predeceased by; her parents, Joe and Mary, a sister, Frances Roberts and brothers, Mike, Frank, Carl and Adolf Kobialko and Joey Korchoski. The Funeral Service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Joe Ball, Hospital Chaplain will officiate. Interment will be in the Brandon Cemetery.
