Obituary

WILKINSON: Barry Leslie suddenly passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the age of 62. Born to Bus and Norah Wilkinson in Brandon, on February 27, 1951, Barry grew up in Brandon and attended David Livingston School and BCI. He was an avid fisherman and was known as the "Pickerel Killer" among friends. His favorite fishing hole was Toutes Aides. Barry's love of gardening started with his family's market garden formally located where Wal-Mart is now and continued throughout his entire life. You didn't leave his house in the summer months without a garden care package of some sort! Barry was also proud of the golf course he created on his acreage. He enjoyed taking quarters from anyone willing to play. But his proudest achievement was his daughter, Rana. He often said that his morning coffee visits with her were his favorite times, as well as his coffee chats with Bob and Bunny. But the one who stole his heart in recent years was his "grand-daughter" Libby. He liked to take Libby for many walks around the yard and spoil her with tasty treats from Jiffy. Barry is survived by his daughter Rana of Brandon, and brothers Roy (Dale) of White court, AB & Doug (Sandra), sister Gail, nieces Ashley & Ellison and nephew Douglas all of Brandon. He was predeceased by his parents Bus and Norah Wilkinson. A private family graveside service was held at the Brandon Cemetery on Wednesday September 4, 2013. Urn bearer was Douglas Wilkinson. A ceremony to celebrate Barry's life was held Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at ANAF located at 31 – 14th Street, Brandon. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barry may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Unit A1 – 800 Rosser Avenue, Brandon, MB R7A 6N5 or the Canadian Mental Health Association, 23 12th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 4L6.
