Obituary

KENNEDY: Bareth Jean Kennedy went to be with her Lord peacefully at home on January 8, 2000. Bareth was born on June 12, 1937 in Cartwright, Manitoba, the second daughter of Thomas and Marjorie Cox. Bareth attended school in Cartwright and had fond memories of her time there. Bareth moved to Brandon in 1954 to begin work in a variety of retail positions. On November 5, 1955 she married Ray Kennedy. Throughout their 44 years of married life, Ray and Bareth spent several years in California and have many close friends they cherish from their time there. They served as youth pastors at C L C in Santa Rosa under the direction of Watson and Bonnie Argue. On March 1, 1968, Ray and Bareth were blessed with the arrival of their daughter Janelle. Bareth and Ray returned to Canada in 1973, where they rekindled old friendships and made many new friends. Bareth was one of the original members of the Brandon Christian Women's Club and she enjoyed speaking on "inner and outer beauty." Bareth had a flair for decorating and her touch brightened up many houses and brought beauty to many weddings. She also enjoyed decorating her store windows with her special friends there. Bareth loved to style hair and she would give of her time to cut, color and perm whoever would ask. Bareth's inner beauty was spectacular and she loved to get "gussied up" on the outside too! She loved her job at Reesor's Jewellery and her work family was so special to her. She would often come home from work bubbling with joy and stories from the times they shared that day. Each customer was unique to her and she cared in only the way Bareth could. During the last five months, Bareth's faith in God never waivered and she prayed for others constantly. She cherished friendships and would say, "I love you- please don't ever forget that." Bareth was predeceased by her parents, one brother, Austin, sister-in-law, Margaret Kennedy and brothers-in-law, Marion Moore and Joe Stack. Bareth leaves to rejoice in her memory, her loving husband of 44 years, Ray, dearly loved daughter, Janelle and special "son" Brad Hall. Also a sister Margaret Moore of Petaluma,CA; nephew, Ed (Juana) Moore, great nephews, Austin, Morgan, Collin, niece Lauren of Paso Robles, CA and nephew James Moore of Cupertino, CA. The service to celebrate Bareth's life was held at McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church on Tuesday, January 11, 2000 at 3:00 pm. Interment followed at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Friends who so desire may make a donation in Bareth's memory to the Gideon's P.O. Box 20060, Brandon, MB, R7A 5Y8. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
