RAMSEY: Avis Elaine Ramsey, formerly of Bren-Del-Win Lodge, Deloraine, Manitoba passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 1999 in her 85th year. Avis was born October 14, 1914 south of Lauder, Manitoba. She received her education in Lauder. Avis married Leslie Ramsey in Melita in 1938. Until moving to Bren-Del-Win Lodge, she was a homemaker, making meals for son Gerry and grandson Jonathon. In her early years she enjoyed curling, baseball sportsdays and gardening. Avis belonged to the United Church Women's Organization and was a dedicated church member. She enjoyed visiting at the Lauder Inn to keep abreast of the community news. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are son, Gerry of Lauder and grandsons Jonathon and Darin; daughter, Leita (Brian) Paterson of Brandon; granddaughter, Karma (Des) and great-grandson Noah of Winnipeg. Sisters-in-law, Hazel Trollope and Doris Henry of Brandon and Leita White of Winnipeg also survive. Avis was predeceased by her husband Les; sister, Ivy; and brother, Allan. The funeral service was held at the Lauder United Church, Lauder, Manitoba on Saturday, December 4, 1999 with Rev. Beth McLean
officiating. Interment followed in the Lauder Cemetery. Active pallbearers were: Don Partrick, Doug
Paterson, Jonathon Ramsey, Don Clarke, Garry and Keith Trollope. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Avis to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415 - 1st Street, Brandon, R7A 2W8 or to the Lauder Cemetery Fund. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, Brandon. Special thanks to the Doctors and Nursing Staff of the Intensive Care Unit for the professional care of our mother.
