SHEPHERD: The death of Arthur "Art" Shepherd, beloved husband of Esther, occurred on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. The Memorial Service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Thursday, April 8, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. David Wilson will officiate. Private family interment will follow in the Veterans' Section of the Brandon Cemetery. SHEPHERD: Arthur Francis Shepherd passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Art was born in Boissevain, Manitoba on June 9, 1926. He was the youngest of three children born to Alice and Jack Shepherd of Ninga. He attended school in Deloraine and after graduating, began working as a section hand for the C.P.R. In 1945, he joined the Canadian Army in Winnipeg, where he was later promoted to Lance Corporal and posted to Nais, Ontario. Upon his discharge in 1946, he returned to the C.P.R. as an express messenger, eventually moving to Brandon. Art became the account manager and supervisor of the CP Transport Terminal, a position he held until his retirement in 1985. He met his devoted wife, Esther Erickson in Wilkie, Saskatchewan where they later married and had two lovely daughters, Sharon and Shelley. Art was very active in the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3, as well as the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada, Unit 10. Art joined the A.N.A.F. in 1982 and became President in 1990,. a position he held until 1996 He continued to serve on the executive until 2003. During that time, Art and Esther were instrumental in helping to establish the Crocus Seniors 55 Plus Club. During his retirement Art enjoyed numerous hobbies such as woodworking, curling, reading, golf, his models railroad, as well as spending time with his friends and family. Art was predeceased by his parents, Alice and Jack; his sister, Eleanor (Dave) Nixon; and his brother, Allan (Marion) Shepherd. His passing is mourned by his wife of 54 years, Esther; eldest daughter, Sharon and son, Brett Diller; younger daughter, Shelley and her son, Garrett Toderian. He will be sadly missed. The Ceremony Celebrating Art's Life was held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, April 8, 2004. Rev. David Wilson officiated. Private family interment followed in the Veterans' Section of the Brandon Cemetery.
