Obituary

MATHIESON: The death of Arthur "Art" Mathieson of Brandon occurred on Monday, May 22, 2000. Art was born September 17, 1924 on the family farm near Hamiota, Manitoba. He later moved with his family to Brandon and received his education at David Livingstone School. Art was employed for many years as a sales representative for McKenzie Seeds. In 1985, he became an independent seed distributor with his good friend Keith Lamb at Grain Ex Commodities Trading Inc. Following this, Art operated his own business, AM Concessions, at the Keystone Centre with two of many valued employees, Ken Leronowich and Michael Melnyk. For many years he sold cotton candy and candied apples from his booth at special events such as Ag Ex and the Winter and Summer Fairs. Art also served on the Board of Directors for the Winter Fair. He was a family oriented person and took a keen interest in gardening. Art is survived by his sister Francis (Charles) Koludrovic; brother Edward; nephews: Darryl (Tam) Mathieson, David Koludrovic, and Stewart Mathieson; nieces: Heather (Rick) Haywood and their son Jerrick and Susan (William) Suglich and their daughter Katherine. He was predeceased by his mother Annie and father Nicholas. Funeral service will be held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, May 27 (today) at 2:00 p.m. with Celebrant Fr. Leo Fernandes of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Art may be made to the Brandon General Hospital Foundation, 150 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415 - 1st Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
