CARTER-SQUIRE: On June 15, 2005 Arthur Duane Carter-Squire lost a very courageous battle with cancer. The Memorial Service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18 Street North, Brandon on Monday, June 20, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. David Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Duane to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 2B7. CARTER-SQUIRE: On June 15, 2005 Arthur Duane Carter-Squire lost a very courageous battle with cancer. Duane was born in Boissevain, Manitoba on July 19, 1942 the son of John and June Carter-Squire. He lived north of Killarney until 1955, when the family moved to Brandon. He attended Earl Oxford and Neelin High Schools. He married Mona Grigg in 1960. Together they had three sons: John, Dan and Jeff. Duane worked in construction all his young life until 1973 when he taught at Westbran. In 1975, the opportunity came along to further his education and he started teaching carpentry at Crocus Plains School. During his career at Crocus he coached boys and girls basketball for many years. Duane and Mona got to go overseas to England with the girls basketball team in 1998. They sold their home in Brandon and moved to the cottage at Rivers. Duane was a fisherman, golfer, curler and 10-pin bowler. He was predeceased by his father John in 1999 and father-in-law, Wally Grigg, who Duane was very fond of. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Mona; sons, John (Kim), Dan and Jeff (Cindy); his seven grandchildren; mother, June Carter-Squire; brothers, Joe (Helene), Rick (Terry), Barry (Alison); sisters, Judy Emett and Cindy (Bob) Chambers. He will also be greatly missed by his mother-in-law, Hilda Grigg; sisters-in-law, Joan Turner, Heather (Wayne) La Fournie, Denise Grigg (Craig Freeman); brother-in-law, Garry (Pat) Grigg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
